For Heaven’s Sake

There’s so many things people do and don’t do, for the sake of heaven. For many, heaven is the ultimate end all destination. We’ve heard that the streets of heaven are lined with gold; there’s no crying or pain or sorrow. Who wouldn’t want to go?

We’ve been told all kinds of things about heaven. How to get there and how we’ll never get there. We were told as children to be good so that when we die, we’d go to heaven. Dionne Warwick cautioned you’d never get to heaven if you break her heart. So many tales – I bet you can think of more than a few.  One thing is clear, after this life, heaven is the better of the two places to go.

At funerals, the officiate says of the deceased – he/she is in a better place; they’re sleeping with the heavenly angels; they’re watching over us from heaven. Heaven is nirvana. Nobody I know wants to go to the alternative site…hell.

How do we know there is an afterlife? In his song Let’s Go Crazy, Prince sang about the afterlife. He said [it’s] “A world of never ending happiness; you can always see the sun, day or night.” He also said that things are harder in this life than in the life after. How can I know that this life I’m living isn’t all there is? No one’s come back from either place to tell me anything about it. Why should I squander my time here on the belief that 1) there is a heaven and 2) I’ll make it through the pearly gates?

I don’t know about you but I want to experience heaven right here on earth. I don’t want a hellish struggle through a hellish world. I want to experience heaven in the here and now. Why wait until I die for my sorrow, pain, and weeping to end? I believe heaven can be in the here and now. And what’s after? It just might be determined by how you managed your time before.

It starts in your mind. Proverbs 27:19 says, “As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.” In other words – as a man thinks, so he is. What’s in your heart determines who you are; determines how you view the world and circumstances. You can create your own heavenly circumstances here on earth.

There’s an old gospel song titled Heaven on Earth. The lyrics state:
“Heaven is calling for you to come higher! To see everything from a new point of view. To be seated with Jesus in Heavenly places, from His perspective everything is made new.” In other words, raise your vibration; shift your paradigm; challenge your old way of thinking. Think heaven-like thoughts and your perspective will be a new one.

Romans 12:2 says to be transformed by renewing your mind. Read books that will help you learn new concepts towards an improved lifestyle. Seek out speakers that teach the principles supporting that better life. Surround yourself with mentors and friends living the lifestyle. Dr. Wayne Dyer wrote a book titled, Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life. It’s based on the teachings of the Tao Te Ching. It all starts with you.

What I’m saying is, you don’t have to wait until you die and hope you get to heaven – it’s available to you today. All I’m asking you to do is get your mind right…for heaven’s sake.

Talk to you soon.
Robin ❤
